I teach separation processes and process simulation. Aspen Plus sits next to the hand calculations in my classes, so a student can see where the software gets its answer rather than trusting the output.
My research is in electrochemical engineering, mostly green hydrogen from anion exchange membrane electrolysis: electrode performance and cell behaviour under load. It follows on from my doctorate, and most of it is done together with postgraduate students.
Previously I worked as an international marketing analyst at a London consulting firm, providing competitive analysis of several global companies for clients in the automotive lubricants, lubricant additives and specialty chemicals sectors. The work combined my chemical engineering expertise with market strategy analysis, which is where it becomes clear how differently each company chooses to compete, and why.
